Strengthening Literacy at Salazar Trace Primary School

Salazar Trace Primary School has been utilising the ARROW programme since 2023, and has demonstrated remarkable commitment to strengthening literacy for their students, throughout the past 2 years, with the generous support of Atlantic LNG.

The Project’s Progress

During the first phase of the ARROW’s implementation within the school conducted between 2022 and 2023, 27 students were supported, each completing their full eight hours of intervention and assessments. Students were first assessed using the Schonell reading and spelling tests, allowing teachers to pinpoint each child’s specific needs and place them on individualised learning plans.

The second phase expanded the programme by working alongside four trained teachers within Salazar Trace Primary School, reaching an additional 20 students, all of whose reading and spelling levels were reassessed after completing their intervention hours, showing a marked improvement in their literacy levels. The newly trained teachers successfully completed their A.R.R.O.W. reports, which have now been submitted to A.R.R.O.W. Tution in the UK, where their official certification has now been processed, enabling them to continue tutoring their students with the ARROW programme.

Salazar Trace Primary School has emerged as a particularly engaged and enthusiastic partner. Thanks to sponsored computers from Atlantic LNG,  the A.R.R.O.W. multi-sensory software is now fully integrated into daily teaching. With four years of continued programme access and support, the school is well-positioned to sustain and continue to strengthen the literacy levels the students who need it most. After this period, they will be able to renew their licence annually at a nominal fee, ensuring long-term continuity.

Looking Ahead

The dedication of the staff and management at Salazar Trace has made the rollout of A.R.R.O.W. both smooth and impactful. We are confident that the school will show significant improvements in overall literacy levels, supported by ongoing tutor visits and teacher guidance. With the teachers now officially UK-certified in the A.R.R.O.W. methodology, Salazar Trace Primary is on a strong path toward lasting literacy success.
